After 27 years here at Gracefield School one of our sweetest teachers, Glenda Montgomery, has left. There was something very special about her. She was an awesome teacher, and she was fun and creative. Mrs Montgomery was a teacher for 44 years.
She taught at four schools in Auckland before she came to teach here, and has taught new entrants through to year sixes. At Gracefield she taught in Room 2, which is for Year 1 students. She also opened our school library and loved encouraging kids to read books. Now, every week every class goes to the library and we can use it at lunchtimes too. Thanks, Mrs Montgomery!
I interviewed Mrs Montgomery and she said that something she will miss the most about teaching is the children because of the noise they make and the games they play. She will also miss the genuine enthusiasm for learning kids at Gracefield School have, and the support staff and the teachers.
The crazy thing is, Mrs Montgomery wants to teach more! Maybe at schools in Taupo. Another thing she would like to do in the future is golf and planting plants.
We wish you good luck in the future Mrs Montgomery and we all miss you! We hope you fulfil your dreams in the future and have a great time in Taupo. We loved your style of teaching and you will be missed.
